Alvina Heupel was born on October 25, 1927 to Art & Marie Schaeffer in Pollack, South Dakota. She spent her childhood in Herrid South Dakota. After finishing her education, she moved to Mobridge and lived as a child care giver till she moved to Aberdeen where she worked at the Alonzo Ward Coffee shop as a waitress.
She married Cliff Heupel in 1948 in Aberdeen, South Dakota. In 1949 her first child was born in Aberdeen and the family left for California in 1952. Then in 1955, her second child was born and in 1960 they moved to Coachella California and worked for the Riverside County School District. Twins were added in 1969 and back to Lodi they went in 1973. She lived there till she retired after 11 ½ years from the Lodi School District.
She moved back to Leola South Dakota, making a full circle in 1994. In 2005, they returned to Aberdeen South Dakota to complete her life adventures but later returned to Lancaster, California in 2011 to be near family.
Alvina and Cliff moved back to Lancaster, Calif. In 2011 and were members of Leisure Lake Mobile Estates, a senior community and the Lancaster Desert Vineyard Church.
Alvina had been an active member in the Eagles and in the Legion throughout her lifetime in both California and South Dakota.
She was also one of the responsible helping hand that made the Heupel Family Reunion in Aberdeen South Dakota, (working with her husband, Cliff and other family members) possible once a year!
Alvina loved to socialize and lend a caring helping hand whenever possible. She enjoyed doing craft, cooking and baking for her family.
She was the beloved wife of Clifford, mother of Jeanne (Rick) McQuown, Rick (Judy) Heupel, Jeffery (Donna) Heupel, and JoAnn Heupel.
She had 8 grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren and 2 great-great grandchildren. She also had 2 brothers and one sister, Melvin (Elvera) Schaeffer, Elmer (Carol) Schaeffer, and Gladys (Harold) Bowen.
She is preceded in death by her parents Art & Marie Schaeffer, her sister (Gladys), her brother Melvin and her son (Jeffrey) and her husband of 66 years, Clifford Heupel, who passed in 2014.
Services will be held at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals & Cremations 44831 N. Cedar Ave. Lancaster, CA 93534. Services will begin at 11am to conclude at 12:30pm. Followed by burial at Bakersfield National Cemetery at 30338 E. Bear Mountain Blvd. Arvin, CA 93203
