Angelita Mesa Rayos Beltran, 97 passed away at 14:25 pm on Saturday, August 7, 2021 at the Palmdale Regional Medical Center. Her youngest daughter Rowena was at her bedside at that time. Her youngest son Rhonie left Australia to be with her. Unfortunately, due to strict COVID travel restrictions was unable to make it on time and missed her by just 2 days.
Angelita was born on May 31, 1924 to Atty Eriberto Mesa and Priscilla Domantay of Malasiqui, Pangasinan, Philippines. She attended Malasiqui High School and finished Bachelor of Science in Education at the University of Pangasinan (formerly Dagupan Colleges). She also completed a doctorate’s degree in Music and Psychology at the University of the Philippines Conservatory of Music. She mastered in classical music of famous composers like Chopin, Beethoven, Bach, Mozart, Tchaikovsky. and Clayderman.
Angelita was married to Teofilo Oliveros Rayos (deceased on July 20, 1982). They were blessed with 7 children – Edna, Bok, Yvonne, Ricardo, Rolando, Rowena and Rhonie.
Angelita's passion was music since she was at a young age and loved playing different musical instruments specially the piano and bandurria. She shared those special talents and skills and shared them to young kids who are interested in music at the West Central Elementary School in the Philippines and also to budding young and old ones here in America.
Everywhere she went, she gladly taught anyone interested in learning and she was the most patient teacher you could ever find! She had that special gift of encouraging and motivating even those not musically inclined to play a musical instrument.
At the University of Pangasinan, she organized and conducted the institution’s Rondalla to perfection, much to everyone's awe and delight that they were invited as performers in other events.
She is survived by her loving children, daughters and sons in law, grandchildren and great grandchildren.
