Arlene Louise Yost, born October 24, 1936 in Slovan, Pennsylvania, joined her Savior on August 26th, 2016 in Lancaster, California.
Arlene was the daughter of Angelo and Sylvia (Bianchini) Borio. She was a graduate of Burgettstown High School and Washington Hospital School of Nursing, Washington, PA. She also earned an AS degree from Antelope Valley College. Arlene served as a United States Air Force nurse for two years, during which time she earned her wings as a USAF Flight Nurse.
She enjoyed traveling, and while living in Germany with her USAF husband, visited many European countries. She volunteered as the disaster service nurse for the Antelope Valley American Red Cross for 15 years. She enjoyed serving as a chaperone for a touring ecumenical youth choir. She was an accomplished artist who painted in the “Old Master” style. Arlene loved her church, Sacred Heart Catholic Church, where she served as a bereavement minister for 24 years. She was a compassionate and generous person to her many friends and those in need.
Arlene leaves her husband, Daniel, son Bruce (Laura), two daughters Anne Galick, (Donald) and Kathleen Yost, (David Eton), two brothers, Richard and Thomas Borio and 6 grandchildren: Brandon, Morgan, Alexandra, Mackenzie, Dalton, and Daniel. A son, Bradley, preceded her in death. In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Sacred Heart Church (565 West Kettering Street, Lancaster, California 93534) building fund or a favorite charity. A vigil service will be held at Halley Olsen Murphy Funerals and Cremations on August 31 at 6:00 pm. A Rite of Christian Burial will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church on September 1st at 10:00 am. Following will be an interment at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery.
