ABELARDO HERMITANO MENDEZ SOSA

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Abelardo H. Mendez Sosa, of Rosamond, California. He passed away Sunday, September 22, 2024. Abelardo was born on November 20, 1960, to Abelardo Mendez and Odilia Sosa in Guatemala. People fondly knew him as Abel, Abelito and El Chaparro. After living most of his childhood in Guatemala, he moved to Mexico where he met his wife Marhta Garcia. They decided to start a family, and later made the decision to immigrate to the United States. This decision was not easy, but Marhta will forever be thankful for his sacrifice and everything he did to provide a better life for their family. Abelardo and Marhta went on to have five children: Miriam, Arnulfo, Brenda, Erica and Eduardo.

Abelardo was known for his strong will, unwavering determination and hard work. He showed his love for his family through his work. He worked very hard to provide for his family. He made sure they had a roof over their head, food on the table, clothes on their back and shoes on their feet. As a result, it taught his children the importance of responsibility. For all his love and teachings, they will always be grateful. 

May God receive his soul in heaven. Although the family’s hearts are pained by his departure, he leaves them with priceless memories, lessons and values. Thankful for the husband, father, grandfather, loving soul and strong person that he was, may he rest in peace. He will be missed and remembered. 

He is survived by his wife, sons, daughters, son-in-law, daughters-in-law, and six grandchildren, along with brothers, sisters and other long-distance family members.
