Barbara Allen

Barbara Joyce Allen, 73, of California City, CA, passed away on the morning of October 14 at Antelope Valley Hospital. Mrs. Allen was born on April 27, 1943, in Barnesville, GA, the daughter of the late Daniel Columbus Smith and the late Emma Lee (Emily) Hammond Smith. She was a civilian employee of the United States Air Force for 31 years, retiring in 2009 as chief of the 412th Maintenance Squadron’s Manpower Division at Edwards Air Force Base. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Allen was preceded in death by her husband James. She is survived by her children, Christopher Allen and Danielle (Robert) DeVore, both of California City; two brothers, Larry and Ronnie Smith, as well as two sisters, Marilyn Smith and Cheryl (Eddie) Ruffin, all of Barnesville, GA; one biological granddaughter; seven grandchildren by marriage; and numerous nieces and nephews. A visitation for Mrs. Allen was held on Thursday, October 27, and burial was at Riverside National Cemetery on Friday, October 28. Halley-Olsen-Murphy Funerals and Cremations, Lancaster, had charge of arrangements.
