BARBARA PENN

Penn,Barbara Jane ,on January 8,2021 Barbara peacefully went home to be with the Lord. She was born on May 3,1942 in Atlanta ,Ga.Barbara received a Bachelor's degree in Spanish and English as a Second Language from Emory ,University.In addition to Spanish, Barbara studied German,Russian and Japanese. She worked as an Elementary school teacher in Mojave,Ca and as a Spanish and EL teacher for many years at Quartz Hill and Antelope Valley High schools.Barbara was a very engaging and enthusiastic teacher who loved to include cultural lessons from her trips to Central America and Europe in her lessons.She was a faithful member of St. Paul's Episcopal church,Lancaster for over 50 years.Barbara was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years,Don Penn in 2019. She is survived by her brother Wayne Martin of Lancaster and several cousins in Georgia.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be a graveside service at Desert Lawn Memorial in Palmdale on February 19th at 1:00pm with required face masks and social distancing.A celebration of life memorial will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in her name to the American Cancer Society.
