Born Sept. 19, 1934 in Chattanooga, Tenn. Passed away Feb. 7, 2017.
Barbara was a 1951 graduate of Lakeview High School, Rossville, GA. She was predeceased by her husband, Airman First Class, Bobbie L. Rowland, whose name in 1962 was inscribed on the memorial stained glass windows at Chapel 1, Edwards AFB, daughter, Karen Rene' Rowland, her mother, Hazel Wilson and father, Robert Wilson, sister, Marion Elise Wilson and brother, Jeffrey A. Wilson (Aileen). She is also survived by her beloved daughter, Mayri Lynn Rowland Hebert, Bartlesville, Okla.; Grandson William L. Hebert (Christina) and children Ciara, Cayley, Camden and Caitlin, Huntington Beach, Calif.; Grandson Daniel A. Hebert and children Chase and Payton Grace, San Diego, Calif.: Brothers James R. Wilson, Lake Placid, Fla.; Robert F. Wilson (Gayle), East Ridge, Tenn.; Michael E. Wilson (Barbara), Ft. Oglethorpe, Ga.; Sister Jennifer L. Jones-Sottile, Satellite Beach, Fla.; and rescued mutt Lucky Lucy. She is also remembered and loved by countless friends, who she cared for deeply, and numerous other extended family and friends.
A resident of Lancaster for more than 50 years, she loved God, family, friends, enjoyed life and treasured her BINGO buddies. Barbara was secretary to many commanding Officers and Generals at Edwards AFB. She was very involved in AFA and held multiple local and state officer positions. She was also the director of sales at the AV Inn for many years. Her love for aerospace and all the history of the Antelope Valley was apparent in her work and friendships, including legends, Pancho Barnes, Billy Barnes, Chuck Yeager, Pete Knight and Jimmy Doolittle.
Her wish was for cremation and her urn to be placed with her husband and daughter, Karen Rene’ Rowland at Lakewood Memorial Gardens Rossville, GA at a later date.
