Carol Toepfer

Carol Ann Toepfer (Harris), age 86, passed away comfortably on November 21, 2022 in Lancaster, California. She was born in Deming, New Mexico on December 3, 1935 to Joseph B. and Maude Ann Harris. She had one brother, “Little” Joe, who preceded her in death. Carol graduated from Antelope Valley High School and had many friends in the AV, having come to Quartz Hill when she was very young. She married Robert (Bob) Toepfer in Lancaster and together they Had four sons. Michael (Michelle), Gregory (Cindy), Roger (Susie) (both deceased) and Douglas. Carol and Bob were married for 43 years until Bobs passing in 1999. Along the way they raised 4 boys, worked, and had fun. Carol worked at the phone company, right after high school, later at Ryckabosh Poultry and finally at AV Hospital. All in all she had a long working career, spanning over 35 years. Carol loved the outdoors and spent as much time as she could being there, going on picnic’s, playing horseshoes or just sitting in the sun. She and Bob loved the beach and spent every year in Carpinteria for weeks and months when they could. Carol loved art and was an accomplished painter in her own right. She was also a better than average athlete, playing ping-pong and bowling, where she was very competitive. She also loved poker and card games and she was an avid reader. Carol suffered with Parkinson’s Disease for over 40 years and eventually was not able to do many of those things she loved so much, but she never lost her spirit or her sense of humor. She always had a welcoming smile for everyone she came across. She is survived by 3 sons, and their families, including 10 grandchildren, 16 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandchild, her Sister-in-Law and best friend, Jean Toepfer and numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by husband Bob, son Roger (and Susie) and granddaughter Jessica.
