Jean Vensel

Carol Jean (Bowen) Vensel

Born December 29, 1938, in Morgantown, West Virginia, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family, on April 12, 2018. Jean was a long-time resident of Lancaster and graduated from Antelope Valley High School in 1956. The first in her family to attend college, she graduated from St. Scholastica in Duluth, Minnesota, with a degree in Medical Records. She worked at Antelope Valley Hospital and later, was the owner/operator of A.V. Auto Electric. Having converted to Catholicism during college, she was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Lancaster, serving recently as a Eucharistic Minister. She also was the parish administrator for many years at Saint Junipero Serra Parish and was a member of the Catholic Daughters of America.

Jean was an avid reader, participated in a monthly Bible study with her dear friends, liked to travel, and enjoyed, above all else, time spent with family. She was preceded in death by her ex-husband, Richard R. Vensel, her parents, Mary and Howard Bowen, and her brother, Kent Bowen. She is survived by her brother Keith (Sharon) Bowen, her son John (Darcey), her daughters Mary (Jason), Carol Lynn (Jose), and Theresa (Frank), and her beloved grandchildren: Jillian, Rachel, Diego, Jordan, Satchel, Teagan, Geneva, Quincy and Malcolm.
