Dorothy Cole

Dorothy Jean Cole was the beautiful, free spirited daughter of Betty Cole and Fred Dixon Sr. She was born in the northern part of Louisiana, Lake Providence.

Having lost her mother early in life, Dorothy was reared by her maternal grandparents the late Wash and Sally Cole. She was educated in East Carroll Parish and graduated from the G.W. Griffin High School. Mum and Paw, as they were called, gave Dorothy her religious values. She accepted Christ as her savior early in life. They instilled dignity, pride, morals, values, and the importance of being a strong, independent woman. These qualities Dorothy carried with her all of her life. She struggled to maintain them in sickness as she gave her all until death.

Dorothy was the mother of two children Napather and Keith Cole. Dot, as she was affectionately called by many, was a sensitive, determined woman with a keen sense of pride. She loved her family dearly and thrived in spite of many obstacles to make the best decisions.

With a better life in mind, she moved to California in 1987. One of Dorothy’s trademarks was a beautiful smile that she inherited from her mother and has left with her son Keith. Dot was a humanitarian, but, if you vexed her, she would quickly give you that look and say, “You need to go sit down somewhere!

Among her pastime pleasures were playing cards, spades and wrist were her favorites. She, also, loved music and casino games. She was always excited to travel with her family to the family’s annual reunion. The Cole Family will celebrate the memory of her always.

She was employed, for years, by Coca Cola as a customer service representative. Being a determined, hardworking, independent woman, she was certified in 2020 as a Customer Service Representative Graduate. “Action is the Fundamental Key to Success” is the company’ s motto.

Dorothy leaves to cherish her memory: Daughter Napather Cole, Son Keith Cole (Patricia),
Stepdaughter Paula Williams; Brother Fred Dixon, Sister Carolyn Fay Stevenson; Grandchildren
Teldrick, Jasmine, Tashawna, Jaqunda Crawford, Treywan, Kellie; Great-Grand Children Teldrick II, Jonathan, Nicolas, Aiden, Denessa; Bentley, Brice, Blessings, Brayden (Zachary); Zariah Lawson, Vencent Hess; Beloved Friend Bernell Nelson; Aunt Annie Lou Howard; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her mother Betty Cole, father Fred Dixon, sister Shirley James, and grandparents Wash and Sally Cole.
