After a long and amazing life, Dot Ann Norris went home to be with her Lord on June 19, 2018. She passed away at her home in Lancaster, California surrounded by family at the age of 87.
Dot was born on July 28, 1930 in Spring Garden, Illinois, the only child of Albert and Venita Dale. She grew up in Southern Illinois and attended Goode-Barren High School in Sesser, Illinois, graduating in 1947. Soon thereafter she met and married Norman Norris in 1952. They enjoyed 40 years of marriage until his passing in 1992.
Dot moved with Norman to the Antelope Valley in 1957 while he was on what was to be a short 6-month job assignment, but instead they put down roots and stayed to raise their 3 children in Lancaster. A wife, mother and homemaker who cared for a special needs daughter 24/7 for 63 years, Dot was truly a unique example of sacrificial love, grace and dignity. She was an active, long-time member of Lancaster United Methodist Church. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Venita Dale; her husband Norman; her daughter Cheryl; and son-in-law Dennis Cerruti. She is survived by her daughter Judy Cerruti and son Michael Norris (Sandra) of Lancaster, California; step-daughter Susan Smith; and grandchildren Alisha Swinson, Kendall (James) Dillard, Ashley (Ernesto) Garcia, Erica (Anthony) Alvarez, Daniel (Amy) Smith, and Krystle Smith as well as great-grandchildren Carter, Damien, Mia, Callyn, Troy, Elias and Quinn.
The family would like to say a special thank you to Drs. Sethu Madhavan and Bryan Benefiel for the exceptional medical care and concern they provided during Mom’s final months, as well as to the team at ProCare Hospice for the kind, caring support and efficiency they exhibited during this most difficult time
