On March 10th, 2023 Elda Fern Shryock (Wright) of Lancaster CA was called home to the Lord. She was born July 31st, 1939 in Missouri and grew up in the greater Sacramento area of Northern CA. She enjoyed the fresh produce from their small family farm and her father’s gardening tips and tricks. She moved to Southern CA to start a family and had 4 children (Terri Ogan-Jennings, Keith and Kevin Jennings (twins), and Dean Jennings. Her first career as a mother and cosmetologist was working in the Antelope Valley. Elda had grit and went back to school after raising her family and worked as a phlebotomist. Elda, better known as Grammy, had 9 grandchildren she shared with Maurice ‘Doc’ Shryock. Together they built a home in Quartz Hill, CA and later in La Pine, OR. They also enjoyed acting and directing dramas and plays with their church. She wrote short stories about her adventures and contributed to church cookbooks. She loved traveling and sharing a meal with friends. Elda was always up for a card or board game. She enjoyed watching the clouds and sun rise/set. She always said the sky is a new canvas every day, no two will ever be the same. Elda was one of a kind and will be greatly missed.
In lieu of flowers, if you would like to make a donation to the American Heart Association or Meals on Wheels in her name/honor it would be greatly appreciated.
