On Sunday, June 13, 2021, Elizabeth Gigstad, loving wife and mother of four children, passed away at age 58.
Elizabeth was born on December 31, 1962 in Panama to Fabio and Carmela Mezua. On September 20, 1990, she married Ed Gigstad. They raised two sons, Edwin and Josie, and two daughters, Sarah and Andrea.
Elizabeth worked at the Edwards Commissary for nearly 20 years. As a Commissary Bagger, she worked alongside a broad demographic of coworkers, from high schoolers to active-duty military personnel. She also held several manufacturer vendor-stocker and presentation worker positions, including McCormick and Oscar Mayer. Most recently, she held a contractor position for Perkin’s and Associates as part of the Janitorial and Stocking services.
Elizabeth had a passion for making the most out of any event she attended. She also loved to take trips, whether by car, motorcycle, or plane. An avid merengue and salsa lover, with a collection from El General to Celia Cruz, she could outdance most at any event. She was well known to effortlessly initiate new friendships with her outgoing and spirited personality. She consistently brought joy to those she met, even in the shortest of encounters.
Elizabeth is survived by her father, Fabio and mother, Carmela, her husband Ed, her four children, Edwin, Josie, Sarah and Andrea, four grandchildren, and her brothers, sisters, cousins, nieces, and nephews.
In lieu of flowers, our family is requesting donations in Elizabeth’s name to your chosen Lymphoma or Liver Research organization.
The family would like to express their sincerest gratitude for the outpouring of love and support from our community. We appreciate your prayers, cards, calls, and anything you may have done to support us during our time of need.
