Eunice Hilgendorf. Long time Antelope Valley resident passed away on Octover 12, 2015 in Palmdale, California. Eunice was born on June 6, 1912 in Newdale, Manatoba, Canada. Eunice grew up in Minnesota to age 12, then moved to Pasadena, California.
Eunice moved from Pasadena to Lancaster in June 1933, when she married her beloved husband Johnny. They had a ranch of alfalfa & peach orchards. They were married 45 years.
In 1946 they bought 10 acres of almonds in Quartz Hill. Eunice sold almonds & candy & became well known for her delicious English Toffee. She lived in the home Johnny built there until 2005 at the age of 93.
Eunice was an active member of Grace Lutheran Church. Taught Sunday school, volunteered for the Braille Institute receiving a Certificate of Merit for 20 years of Service. She received a life membership for Antelope Valley Guild Children's Hospital for her many years of service.
Eunice was a homemaker and worked for Palm Ranch Water Co. She loved to camp with friends, square dancing as they traveled across the U.S. She loved to laugh and be with family & friends.
Eunice is survived by her son Jack (Pam); daughter Arlene (Dennis); the Klein grandchildren, Kristi (Mike) Reeves, Sherri (Tom) Russell & Denny (Bridgette) Klein and the Hilgendorf grandchildren, Heidi (Charles) Tanner & Holly (Kris) Miller. She is also survived by her great-grandchildren, Nathan, Jordan & Lauren all of Atascadero, Autumn, Deagan & Keaden all of Paso Robles, Haley & Emma of Manteca, Gavin of Alta Loma and Zackary & Madeline of Henderson, Nevada. She is preceded in death by her husband John Hilgendorf (1978).
Viewing will be held at 10:30am with Services at 11:00am October 24, 2015 at Grace Lutheran Church 856 W. Newgrove, Lancaster, California. In Lieu of flowers, please make memorial contributions to Grace Lutheran Church or to your favorite charity.
