Eve McVicker

Eve S. McVicker passed away peacefully at home with family on December 10, 2020. She was 80.

Born in 1940, daughter of Omer and Minnie, Eve spent her childhood living in Missouri. In 1958, she wed James McVicker and they raised three children in Florida and Southern California. The family settled in the Antelope Valley in 1976. Eve retired as an administrative assistant in the aerospace industry.

Eve was lovingly and passionately dedicated to her husband and kids and was absolutely born to be a grandmother. She cared deeply for humankind and was unwaveringly faithful to God. Eve’s hobbies included RV traveling, dancing (“Satin & Spurs”) and managing little league softball teams. Eve also enjoyed cooking, reading, and family/friend get-togethers.

Eve is survived by her loving husband, James, son, Kenneth McVicker, daughter, Kristina McVicker, daughter Karen Rosales (Andy), grandchildren, Mackenzie McVicker, Tyler McVicker, Ayla Rosales, and Abby Rosales, siblings, Darrell, Roger, and Gail. Eve was preceded in death by her parents and three sisters, Wilma Joy, Gloria, and JoAnn, and other relatives and friends.

The family will be creating a Celebration of Life video to share at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please contribute to St. Jude (stjude.org) or Shriner’s Hospital (shrinershospitalsforchildren.org) in Eve’s memory.

Ode to the Music Box
By Abby Rosales

Oh music box with your extravagant beauty and detail
You etch my soul with comfort
Providing support for all
With the crank of a pin
You elegantly disperse warm tones
Vocalizing the sentimental song of “You are my Sunshine”
Provided by my oh so loving grandma
Your simple brown walls mean so much more
With deep comforting roots in every note played
Custom made with me in mind
Each intricate bolt and screw plucks at my heart
While witnessing the complex ways in which you work
So providing entertainment and deep meaning
You, little music box
Make every inch of me feel cheer.
