Georgette was born on October 18th, 1950 in Minneapolis Minnesota to George and Marie Hopster. Georgette was the second of five children having 3 sisters, Cheryl (Bretz), Bonita and Fraya and 1 brother, Leslie.
The family moved several times during her younger years finally making Lancaster their permanent home in 1963. Georgette attended Sacred Heart School, Piute, and Antelope Valley High School where she graduated in 1968. She participated in choir and was a member of several clubs. During her Senior year she began volunteering as a Candy Striper at Antelope Valley Hospital. She loved it so much that she knew that was what she wanted to do as a career. In 1970 Georgette received her license as a Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) and went to work at AV Hospital. Georgette served as an LVN for 20 years before having to retire for her own medical reasons. Besides AV Hospital she also worked for a time at Granada Hills Hospital, two different nursing facilities and served as a home health care nurse.
Georgette was active in the community as well. She played softball in the Parks and Recreation leagues and was a member of the Antelope Valley Bowling Association where she served two years on the Board of Directors. She also served as a volunteer at the Antelope Valley Fair for over 20 years for which she was awarded the Western Fairs Association Blue Ribbon Award in 2018. She has been a member of local TOPS clubs for over 25 years and was honored as the Area Queen in 2009. She was very active in the club and considered those folks as some of her best friends.
She loved collecting dolls and amassed quite a large collection. From Barbie to Robin Woods to Marie Osmond, Disney and even Madame Alexander. She loved them all. The Princess Diana Bride Doll and a couple of Bob Mackie Barbies were among some of her favorites.
Georgette was an avid Disney fan and held an annual pass for quite a few years. She loved going down to Disneyland and just spending the day walking around and enjoying the sights. She was a member of the National Fantasy Fan Club for Disneyana Collectors in the 80’s and early 90’s and later became a member of the Official Disney Fan Club, D23. Georgette attended several annual Conventions for the 2 clubs and had the opportunity to meet some of the Legends she admired growing up. Her biggest thrill was meeting the original members of the Mickey Mouse Club.
Georgette is survived by her sisters Bonita Hopster and Fraya Hopster, and her nephews William Bretz, Steve Crosby and Lucas Hopster and her great nephews Lexen Tieslau and Hunter Crosby.
