On Monday, December 26, 2022, Grace Leano Jalandoni, loving wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, and daughter, passed away at the age of sixty-six. She was born to Magdalena and Sebastian Leano in Manila, Philippines on November 5, 1956. Grace graduated from Manila Central University with a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. In 1986, Grace celebrated two wonderful milestones. First, she passed her board exams to become a Registered Nurse. Though some days were not easy, she was passionate about her role and advocated and cared deeply for those she helped. Second, she married the love of her life, her husband Resureccion “Rex” Jalandoni. December 22, 2022 marked their thirty-sixth wedding anniversary.
In 2011, Grace was diagnosed with breast cancer, and she underwent surgery and radiation and chemotherapy treatments. She was in remission for almost ten years until 2020. Grace was always a fighter. It did not matter what it was or whom she faced. She fought bravely in the face of even the worst odds. She had a deep strength within herself, and she was unafraid to show it. It was this strength that carried her for so long, fighting to see another day and to spend more time with her granddaughter and loved ones.
Grace is survived by her husband Rex; her son John Rex, her daughter-in-law Moriah, and her granddaughter Leilani Grace; as well as, her daughter Mary Grace. She also leaves behind her sister Marilou and brother-in-law Ramon Foronda; her three brothers, George, Eduardo, and Amor Leano; as well as her nephew Alexander Leano and nieces Sarah Leano and Lorraine Foronda and grand-niece Jasmine Leano. She is preceded in death by her parents, brother Anthony Leano, father-in-law Dominador and mother-in-law Catalina Jalandoni, sister-in-law Denise Leano, and nephews George and Anthony Leano.
A visitation will be held with Vigil Prayer Service on Wednesday, January 4, 2023 at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Memorial Chapel, Lancaster. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on January 5, 2023 at Saint Junipero Serra Catholic Church. Interment to follow at Good Shepherd Catholic Cemetery.
