Ida Herrera

Ida R. Herrera, 84, passed away peacefully at her home in Palmdale, California with her children by her side on Friday, January 28, 2022. She was born October 17, 1937, in Canutillo, Texas, a small farmhouse in Rancho de Angela later moving to another farmhouse in Chamberino, New Mexico then to Mesquite, New Mexico.

Ida made the journey 60 years ago from her hometown of Mesquite, New Mexico, to California where she resided the last 31 years in Palmdale. She retired after 30 years as district sales manager for See’s Candy corporation in Culver City. After retirement she loved to travel, long drives, shopping, sewing, crafting, spending time with family, lunch dates with friends, playing bingo at the senior center, going to church, but most of all gardening was her passion.


Preceded in death by her late husbands, Carlos “Chuck” Herrera and George V. Baca; her parents Alexander and Natalia Rivera, and grandson Robert.

Ida is survived by her sisters Juanita Laush (John) of Portland Oregon, Angelita “Angie” Provencio of Austin, Texas, and brother Reynaldo “Sonny” Rivera (Hope) of Albuquerque, New Mexico; by her children; Mark Rivera (Teri), Clarissa, John, Dorothy (Mike), and George “Leonard” Baca; step-children Chuck, Carla, and Gilda Herrera; seven grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, and her beloved dog Peanut.

Ida was immensely proud of her family and leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories for us to cherish. She will be sorely missed.

A memorial celebration and funeral services will be held at Saint Mary's catholic church in Palmdale and she will be laid to rest at Eternal Valley Cemetery in Santa Clarita. Dates and times are pending until further notice.
