James Brockway was born in Waukesha WI Sept. 10, 1927 and passed away in his home in Lancaster Dec. 08, 2022 with his daughters by his side.
After finishing High School he joined the Navy. He saw the world. Most of his Naval career was spent on the USS Taluga, and the USS Shipley Bay. He was a WWII and Korean War Veteran.
While traveling the world he met Patricia Stark. When honorably discharged from the Navy he married her, and they made their home in Hawthorne Calif.
In l966 they moved to the Antelope Valley. Here he became very involved in the Elks Lodge 1625. During his 56 years as an Elk he was always volunteering for one project, event or another. One of his passions was being a Sherri Chef .He loved this lodge and made many very dear friends here.
Jim also was a Volunteer on Patrol with the Los Angeles County Sheriff department well into his 90’s.
He was devoted to family and friends. Was an amazing, loving, kind husband, father, grandfather (Papa) and great grandfather. Known as Izafix to many, because he could fix anything. He was amazing at figuring out what made things “ Tick”. He was a true library of knowledge, and loved sharing facts and history.
Jim loved the outdoors and was avid camper and fisherman. At 95 years of age he was still camping and wetting a line.
Jim was proceeded in death by his parents ,siblings, wife of 50 years Patricia Brockway, and companion Janet Monahan. He lost dear friends through the years, too many to mention but each one took a toll on him.
He is survived by daughters Gayle Failla, Cheryl Furtado, stepson Michael Monahan. Grandchildren Charles Failla Jr, Tony Failla (Heather) , and Nichoel Barnes, Kenny Failla, 9 great grandchildren, one great great grandchild as well as companion Barbara Schwebke.
The family would like to express their appreciation to his team at AV Supportive Care and Hospice. Their care and support allowed us to keep him comfortable and in his own home. Thank you.
There will be a service and celebration of life January 7, 10 am at the Lancaster Elks Lodge#1625. Causal dress is encouraged.
