Janice Evalyn Lawhead, 85, of Lancaster, California passed away on Monday, April 3rd.
Janice was born to Erma and Ron Jensen. Soon after Janice graduated from Glendale High School she met and married ‘the love of her life’ Arden Lawhead in 1956. They began their life together by moving to Lancaster California where her husband began a career in aerospace. They proceeded to build their family, having four children in four years. Steven, Susan, Greg, Scott.
Janice loved nature and the outdoors. The family spent much of their time camping and backpacking. She loved backpacking and even took a few of her girlfriends on backpacking adventures, sharing her love of the outdoors with them. Later she became a traveler, cruises, many trips to Europe, and visited her Danish cousins in Denmark.
Janice had a passion for learning about her ancestry and researched the entire family, leaving her children books full of memories and genealogy information to pass along to future generations.
Janice was predeceased in death by her parents, third child Greg, and her husband Arden, both of whom passed in 2008.
She is survived by her sister Judy Jensen, her brother Jerry Jensen, Steven and his wife Vikki, Susan and her husband Steve, Scott and his wife Cecille and Pilar, the wife of Greg.
She loved having fun with her grandchildren Jonathan, Krysten, Brian, Alyson, Caryn, Nicole, Justin, Tyler, Katherine and Jennifer. She also has seven great grandchildren Brookelyn, Cohen, Annabelle, Jackson, Kayla, Olyvia and Ethan. All of them will always remember 'GG Jan' as playful, goofy, and mischievous, and how she loved to go swimming with them. Olyvia and Ethan look forward to her haunting them with her silliness.
