Jean France Poillot, age 74 went home on December 18, 2020.
Jean was born in Indonesia to Adrienne and Paul Poillot before he and his family moved to Amsterdam in his early childhood. After living in the Netherlands for most of his formative years, Jean and his family immigrated to the United States where they settled in South Pasadena, California, where he met the love of his life, Judy.
Jean was a Vietnam Veteran, as he proudly served in the United States Air Force from 1966 until his retirement in 1986. After retiring from the service with honor, Jean worked for Lockheed Martin until 2005. From there he spent a great deal of his retirement traveling the world with his wife.
Jean’s lovable and humorous personality won over many people over the course of his life, and he is known lovingly as Dad, Opa, Coach, and [Oom] Sjankie. After retiring he became very active with the senior community serving as president of the Lake Los Angeles Senior Club for the past several years of his life. He was a cherished member of Pearblossom Foursquare Church and volunteered much of his time with their food bank program.
In addition to spending time with his family, Jean loved camping and fishing, watching the desert landscape in his backyard while drinking his morning coffee, and taking his grandchildren on vacation.
Jean loved soccer. Not only did he play for a good portion of his life, he shared his passion for the sport with all three of his children who played under his coaching supervision.
He is survived by his loving wife, Judy, his three children, Brian (Cyndee), Jennifer (Donnie), and Melissa (Chris), eight grandchildren, Thomas, Megan (Trevor), Tyler, Anthony, Miranda (Montez), Lauren (Zack), Brittney, Allison, and Jane and three great grandchildren, Molly, William, and Montez, Jr. He is also survived by his sisters, brothers, nieces, nephews, in-laws, as well as many, many friends. In short, if you knew him, you were family.
We will miss him terribly, but we take comfort in knowing that he is now reunited with his father, Paul, mother, Adrienne, sister, Leifke, and brother, Jimmy.
