John Vincent Minneci, age 91, went to be with our Lord on Aug 29, 2021.
He was born November 12, 1929, in Buffalo, New York and lived in the Antelope Valley since 1969. John served 8 years in the U.S. Army and U.S. Army Reserve as a Corporal during the Korean War and was honorably discharged earning the National Defense Service Medal.
John spent over 30 years in public education serving as a teacher and administrator in the Muroc Unified School District at Edwards Air Force Base, as Superintendent of the Southern Kern Unified School District in the early 1970s, and as a science instructor at Cerro Coso Community College.
John was active in his community serving as a Boy Scouts of America Scoutmaster and as an active member in the Lion’s Club in the Antelope Valley for over 20 years. He served in various roles including President several times and especially enjoyed helping students compete in the annual Lion’s Club student speaker contest.
John, who was preceded in death by his wife of 47 years, Elizabeth Mary Minneci, is survived by his two children, Marc Minneci of Tehachapi, and Melissa Campbell of Palmdale, and four grandchildren, Gianluca, Gabriella, Marissa, and Christopher.
Funeral services will be held from 8:30 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Thursday, September 16, 2021, at Halley-Olsen-Murphy Funeral Chapel. Private internment to be held at Forest Lawn Memorial Park, Glendale.
