Joseph Todd Holmlund, the first of three sons from Robert Donald Holmlund and Dorothy Julia Holmlund, passed away the morning of May 2nd, from heart complications at fifty-two years old. He was born in Massachusetts but raised in California City with his two brothers Michael and Fred. As anyone who knew him would say, “to know him was to love him.”
Joseph’s generous heart and warm spirit made absolutely everyone feel loved. He was married twice, first to Stephanie, and second to Catherine, with whom he had three children: Jennifer, Kaitlyn, and Robert, the lights of his life. Joseph was honorably discharged from the Air Force where he served as a nurse. He continued to help people as an MRI technician, doing everything he could to help those in need.
The moments he held most special were those spent coaching every sports team his children participated in. As a lifetime sports fan who played as a child, nothing made him more proud than watching his children doing what he loved. He relished any moment spent on the phone or watching games with them. He was loved by everyone, and a father to so many — earning the nickname “Coach” from all the kids that were so grateful for his words of encouragement and shared passion.
In addition to his mother, brothers, and kids, Joseph is survived by his sister-in-law Margaret, his brother-in-law Nick, his two nephews Gage and Blake, his sister-in-law Marybeth, his niece Maryrose and his brother-in-law Danny, all of whom know that he’s spending the rest of his days “sitting back and watching the game.”
He was a man of few words, but so many emotions. Joseph’s spirit will continue to live on in all of the lives that he has touched so deeply.
