Lelah DeLong was born on June 7, 1926, in Cherry Creek County, New York, and died April 11, 2023 in Lancaster, CA. She was preceded in death by her parents, John S. and Anna DeLong, and siblings John DeLong, Russell DeLong, Richard DeLong, Herbert DeLong, Doris Lindamood, and Helen DeLong. She is survived by her sister Esther Jones. Lelah was a graduate of Antelope Valley High School (1944) and Biola University. Lelah was a missionary to Japan, secretary for TEAM missions, Campus Crusade for Christ, and the Virginia Beach Police Department. In retirement, her joy was to be a jail chaplain and a Sunday school teacher.
Lelah gave thanks to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ who drew her to him when she was a teenager. She responded and received His gift of salvation and eternal life. That was the most important decision of her life. She was challenged daily with God’s word to “walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God: (Colossians 1:10).
