Mary Hughs

Mary Hughes was a beloved daughter, wife, mother and grandmother. She was born in Minneapolis Minnesota on April 20, 1932, and passed on to her eternal reward on Aug. 7, 2019 in Palmdale, CA. Shortly after her birth, her parents and three older brothers, moved to Sioux City, Iowa, where she grew up and obtained her RN license. She then moved out west to California where she met the love of her life, Paul Douglas Hughes whom she married on Valentine’s Day and was married for 50 years until his death in 2014. In 1965 they moved to Palmdale where she eventually worked in the Antelope Valley ER, which was at the time the busiest ER in southern California. Mary loved to help others and faithfully took care of her aging mother, her best friend and a brother during their last months. She also volunteered at St. Vincent de Paul in Lancaster.

Mary is survived by the children from Doug’s first marriage, Paul Hughes and Elizabeth Osborne and their children and grandchildren, as well as her natural children Doug Hughes and Ann Walsh and their children. She will be fondly remembered as a devoted wife, mother and friend who died a devout Catholic, praying for her family and friends.
