It is with great sadness that we are notifying you of Millie's passing today. She passed very peacefully. As difficult as it is, we know she is at peace and in a better place with her savior.
Mildred A Ayers, age 92 , passed away Tuesday, October 13, at home after an on going illness. She was born January 21, 1923, in Orleans, Nebraska, the youngest of nine children, to Alphons and Christina Flammang.
Mildred graduated from Orleans High School in 1940, in Orleans, Nebraska.
Millie married her high school sweetheart Bill Ayers during the war in 1942. She was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanne, in 1947, Bill, in 1975, and all 8 of her siblings.
Millie and Bill moved their young family to California in 1951. They had 5 children.
Mildred was the civilian head of military pay at Edwards Air Force Base until her retirement in 1983.
Millie’s life centered around her family and her faith. She served as a Eucharistic minister at Sacred Heart Catholic Church until her stroke in 2005. She also enjoyed working in her yard and on her home.
She is survived by her children William Les (Debbie) Ayers of Atlanta, GA., Carol Walker of Vista, CA., Bev Baird of Oak Park, CA. and Tom Ayers of Lancaster, CA., 8 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.
Special thanks to her niece Patty Wilson and Maria Covarrubias who helped care for her in her final years.
A funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, October 16, 2015, at 12:30 pm at Sacred Heart Church, 565 W. Kettering St, Lancaster.
The family will receive friends from 4-8 at Halley Olsen Mortuary on Thursday October 15th. A rosary will be said at 7 pm.
Interment will follow the mass on Friday at Good Sheperd Catholic Cemetery, 43121 70th St. W., Lancaster.
