Born, June 21, 1934, passed away January 24, 2018 Honorary Fellow, Society of Experimental Test Pilots. Long time flight and academic Instructor at The Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB. The "Raymond L.Jones Award:" in honor of Col. Raymond L. Jones and jointly established by the Test Pilot School and the Society of Flight Test Engineers. Identifies the top flight test Engineer, Navigator, Weapons system operator or Combat systems officer in each class. Former interceptor pilot with the 94th Hat-In-The-Ring Squadron at Selfridge, AFB in Michigan, aerial gunnery instructor At Nellis, AFB in Nevada and duty as academic and flying instructor at The Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB in California. Awarded the Distinguished Alumnus Award USAF Test Pilot School, 13 June 1987. He also served two combat tours in Vietnam. Combat pilot and author of the book Memoir: Dynamite, Check.Six. The Memoir covers Col. Jones career from Cadet Flight training, including service in the Vietnam War to Vice commandant at the prestigious Edwards Test Pilot School at Edwards AFB in California. Immediate survivors are his wife, Catherine Jones, of Lancaster and son, Brian Jones of Rocklin, CA. At his request, no funeral arrangements are pending.
