Rodrigo “Sonny” Munsayac ReyesJuly 15, 1953 – December 18, 2024Rodrigo “Sonny” Munsayac Reyes, 71, of Palmdale, California, passed away peacefully on December 18, 2024, after a long and courageous battle with cancer. He is now home with his Lord and Savior.Sonny was born on July 15, 1953, in Angadanan, Isabela, Philippines, to Lope Reyes and Marcelina Munsayac. He graduated with a bachelor’s degree in fine arts with an emphasis in Photography. His passion and talent for the arts led him to establish an agency specializing in advertising and photography. His career flourished and brought him opportunities to work with notable individuals, including Mrs. Imelda Marcos and Mr. George Hamilton. This led to his exciting transition to the United States, where he worked for Continental Graphics in the micrographics division, contributing to Boeing and Northrop’s top-secret projects.In 1985, Sonny met Eleanor Lucas Dimalanta, and their love story culminated in marriage on May 26, 1992, in Burbank, California. He lovingly adopted Eleanor’s daughter, Elizabeth “Liz,” and together they welcomed two more children, Erin “Devyn” and Eli Jordan “Ejo.”Sonny’s life was marked by his many passions and talents. He had an enduring love for photography and videography, woodworking, and restoring motorcycles. He cherished camping trips, preparing delicious meals for family and friends, and cheering on his favorite basketball team the Los Angeles Lakers and the California football teams. His taste in music ranged from jazz to rock and roll, and he filled his days with love, laughter, and the joy of family.Sonny is preceded in death by his parents, Lope and Marcelina Reyes; his siblings, Raquel Reyes, Congressman Ramon Reyes, and Roberto Reyes, and his father and mother-in-law, Efren and Jovi Dimalanta.He is survived by his devoted wife, Eleanor; his children, Elizabeth (Liz), Erin (Devyn) and Eli Jordan (Ejo); his grandchildren, Selena, Janae, Sierra, and Samuel; and his great-grandchildren, Olivia, Easton, Esther, Ethena, and Joji (Joseph). Sonny also leaves behind his beloved brother, Rolando (Toti), and his sister in law, Cindy, along with many extended family members and dear friends who will cherish his memory.Sonny’s legacy of love, creativity, and resilience will forever remain in the hearts of those who knew him.
