Ronald David (Ronnie) Katz was born June 24th, 1954. The 2nd of 4 children born to Alfred and Diane Braverman Katz. He grew up, along with his siblings, Sharon, Neil and Jeffrey in Brooklyn, NY and attended Hebrew school, Brooklyn Tech and Brooklyn College, obtaining a Bachelor Degree in Education in 1977. Ron also spent many summers attending and working at Camp NYDA, a camp for diabetic youths
During his college years, he met Karen Krohn. They were married in Brooklyn in 1979 and a short time later, loaded up their Volkswagon Beetle, drove across country and establishing residence in California. In 1984 they watched their home in Palmdale, Ca being built.
Together, they had three beautiful children, Andrea, Adam and Kenny. In September 2017, Andrea and her husband Sam blessed Ron with a beautiful grandson Philip Xavier Cahoe. Ron's children and grandson were the pride of his life.
Ron worked at various engineering jobs including Disney Imagineering, Lockheed, ITT...to name a few and retired at age 34 due to diabetic complications.
Hobbies and interests included Music and singing (member of AV Master Chorale and served as Treasurer) History. (especially, WWII aircraft), Old movies and actors, photography, cooking and road trips. He had numerous cats throughout his lifetime, he loved cats.....especially Neuter.
Since 2007, Ron and Betty Emery have shared their lives and passions together. They enjoyed singing and karaoke as well as picnics and restauraunts and they loved taking road trips. Ron loved taking pictures wherever they went. The California coast, Yosemite, Sedona, and the Grand Canyon.. just a few of his favorites.
Suffering with type 1 diabetes since age 11, the complications over his lifetime took their toll. Ron gave up his fight for life on March 1st, 2018. Ron will always be remembered for the love for his family, friends and life. His beautiful smile, Infectious laugh and his humor will live in our hearts and memories forever.
