RUBY FAYE ABNEY

Faye was born on July 11, 1929, in Carnegie, OK. She passed away on May 10, 2022, in Palmdale, CA. Faye married Jack Abney on December 14, 1946, moved to Lancaster in 1947 and had their only child, Jack Dewayne, in 1948. Jack and Faye owned a small grocery market in east Lancaster, then opened The Smart Shoppe, a women's clothing store on Lancaster Blvd, where they stayed in business for many years. Jack and Faye were also very involved in the valley community. One of Faye's favorite endeavors was partnering with the Assistance League of Antelope Valley and the Models Auxilary to present the annual Designers Showcase fashion show. Faye was also the first to bring Estee Lauder to the valley. Faye was preceded in death by her son, husband, and all 6 sisters. She is survived by her only grandchild, Jacque (Abney) Schultz and husband Jon, great-granddaughters Taylor, Jordan, and Jaelynn, and great-great-granddaughter Teagan, as well as many nieces and nephews. The funeral service will be held Saturday, May 28, at 11 am. Halley Olsen Murphy Funeral home. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Faye's honor to the Assistance League of Antelope Valley.
