RUDY MAMARIL

Rudy Acosta Mamaril was born May 24, 1951, to Hilario and Juliana Mamaril. He was the oldest of three. His siblings are Cristito Mamaril and Florida Astudillo. Rudy was born in Bauang La Union and raised in Baguio, Philippines. There he attended SLU for his education from elementary through college. After college he worked for Philippine Airlines. Shortly after, he met his wife-to-be, Eva Rodrigo at his best friend’s wedding. After a short courtship, Rudy and Eva were engaged, and have been married for 44 years. They had their first child, John Paul in the Philippines and moved to Los Angeles, California. Their family continued to grow with the addition of their second son Brian, and daughter Camille. They finally settled down in Palmdale, California. After his initial employment working at a bank, he decided his calling was to the Nursing field and found his passion for caring for others. He began working for the Los Angeles County Department of Health Services until he retired. During his retirement he continued to volunteer more time to his advocacy for caring through Gawad Kalinga. He also shared his passion for the Lord and was an active member of church groups such as; Knights of Columbus, Couples for Christ, and initiated his journey toward becoming an Oblates of Saint Benedict. Throughout most of his life, Rudy had a passion for photography. Many people know, he always had his camera by his side. Rudy will be remembered for his compassion for others, words of wisdom, and capturing special moments through photography.
