Sergio Valdez

Sergio was born on October 11, 1958 in Nogales, Sonora, Mexico to Aurora and Angel Valdez. He had 3 brothers Angel, Tony, Henry and 3 sisters, Martha, Josie, and Matilda. He was raised in Pacoima, Calif and attended Sharp Elementary, Pacoima Junior High and graduated from San Fernando High school in 1976. He started working at Pacoima Post office in 1978. In 1979, he married his high school sweetheart Norma Corrales and made their home in Sylmar. They had 3 children: Alena, Marc & Ryan. In 1988, they relocated to Lancaster, California and unfortunately lost their son Marc in an automobile accident in November of 1997. Sergio continued working as a postal carrier in Pacoima until he retired in November of 2014. He enjoyed retirement doing home projects, RV traveling and his most important job of babysitting his granddaughters Marky & Ivy. Sergio was an avid sports fan. He was a season ticket holder at Dodger Stadium and enjoyed attending and tailgating at the Raider games.
Sergio was a loving Son, Brother, Husband, Father, Grandfather “Papa”, Friend and neighborhood “Gran Torino”. He is preceded in death by his parents-Aurora and Angel, Brother-Henry Valdez, and son Marc Sergio Valdez.
Survived by his wife of 38 years - Norma Corrales Valdez, daughter-Alena Janette Reedy, son in law-Erik Reedy, grandchildren-Marky Simone, Ivy Rae and Baby Reedy, and son Ryan Joseph Valdez. Brothers: Angel Valdez-Phoenix AZ & Tony Valdez. Sisters: Martha Bracamonte-Tucson, Az., Josie Eulen-Sherman Oaks, CA, Matilda Aguilar-Palmdale, CA
For Sergio, his family always came first. He will be remembered as a loving, caring and generous man who will always have a special place in our hearts. Rest in Peace until we meet again.
