Shirley Walsma

Shirley L. Walsma, 87, of Lancaster, Ca, was peacefully united with her husband, Bill, while at home, on January 29, 2023.

Shirley was born on August 20, 1935, to Theodore and Marian Hayak in Minnesota. Shirley graduated from Holy Family Girls High School in 1954, and shortly after, she met and married her best friend, Henry William (Bill) Walsma in Glendale, Ca. Shirley and Bill spent 53 wonderful years together raising 3 sons and building Walsma Oil Company, where they created lifelong friendships throughout the community.

After Shirley retired she spent her time cooking, taking care of her garden, enjoying time with family and friends, and rooting for the Dodgers!

Shirley was predeceased by her husband, Bill, and her sister, Judy. She is survived by her sons, Jeff and his wife, Eileen, Jay, Jon and his wife Brenda, her sister Kathy, and by her many nieces and nephews.

Services will be held at Halley Olsen Murphy on Saturday, February 25, 2023, at 10 a.m ... In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Lions Club International, an organization Shirley felt strongly about.
