Born in El Paso, Texas on December 5, 1948 to father, Buff Chisolm Jr. and mother, Mary Helen Layfield Hopper. Steve attended UTEP (El Paso, TX) and studied mechanical engineering. He enlisted in the United States Marine Corps in 1969 and achieved Scout Sniper/Lance Corporal, serving two tours in the Vietnam War. He could repair and build just about anything, and thoroughly enjoyed teaching others. He was involved in the organization of many committees for the IBEW, working on welfare committees for both Locals 59 and 11. Steve also was involved through the American Legion as a representative of the Veteran’s services. He was elected Veteran’s Service Officer for American Legion post 311, Lancaster, CA. During his time he worked with local authorities to improve the lives of returning veterans of recent wars. He is survived by his wife, Elizabeth Cotten Chisolm, son Steven Chisolm (Nicole), daughter Candy Chisolm Arnold, step-son Amos Hemingway(Paula), grandchildren Aiden and Luna, granddaughters Summer Arnold and Vivian Chisolm.
