Viola was born in Council Bluffs, Iowa and passed away in Lancaster, Ca. She was a resident of the AV for over 50 yrs.
She loved working in her yard, going to Curves, sitting in her gazebo, spending time with family, traveling to Utah, working on genealogy and chatting on the telephone.
Viola owned and managed over 37 Apartment Rentals for over 30 yrs in Lancaster. She worked assisting the elderly in shopping, errands and companionship and worked on the Lancaster City Council Planning Commission from 1986-1987.
She volunteered at AV Hospital for over 25 yrs in various areas. SARS, Support Team/Group, Surgery Waiting Room Support and she sat on the hospital Auxiliary board. Viola was often found comforting families in crisis, bringing teddy bears, quilts and assisting those who lost a loved one. She was walking the halls volunteering and smiling the Friday before she passed. She had 8450 hrs of service at AV Hospital.
She had been a member of the AV Chapter of the Daughters of the American Revolution since 2000 and became the Registrar until the day of her death. Service duties were Committee Chairmanship, Community Outreach, Aby Richards Scholarship for AV College Students, DAR Scholarship, Lineage research, Hostess and AVSOA speaking at many memorial services for our veterans.
